Growing up in Florissant, Missouri, we had American robins (Turdus migratorius) nesting on the post of our carport each year. I so looked forward to those blue eggs hatching and looking up and seeing those big mouths on those naked small heads reaching up for a tasty worm. New York City has lots and lots of robins, and they are a true harbinger of spring. (I have put together a musical tribute to these birds when I sing a medley of “When the Red, Red Robin …” and “Rockin’ Robin.”) Robins can often look like the original Angry Bird, and I often try to take their pictures when they seem a bit perturbed.
