The Filming the Feathers video series on YouTube chronicles individual birds, as well as groups of birds. On April 22, 2019, I was on the beach near Wolfe’s Pond on Staten Island and found a gathering of a nice variety of gulls, terns, sanderlings and oystercatchers. The laughing gulls have always delighted me, and I was able to film them and some Bonaparte gulls as they partied on into the evening.
On February 15, 2019, we visited Baisley Pond, a small city park in Queens near JFK Airport. There were so many different ducks and water birds hanging out there, plus song sparrows, a mockingbird, and a beautiful first-year red-tailed hawk. Most of the birds, including the redheads, ring-necked ducks, canvasback, mute swans and so on, have their own pages. This video, like the Reservoir Ducks videos, is set to music to reflect on ducks and nature (this one set to Vivaldi).
The videos below show ducks and other birds in group settings. The first, Woody forcing himself on a not-so-willing female mallard, was filmed to show that kind of behavior. The other videos are more relaxing!
