The wonderful Bobby and Cathy Horvath of Wildlife in Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation have been sharing their rescued raptors with the public as part of their educational programs. These rescued birds have injuries that prevent them from returning safely to the wild. The Horvaths will bring these magnificent animals to the Raptoramas and Raptor Fests held at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Marine Park in Brooklyn, and Central Park. Many of these raptors are not native to the Northeast, so can only be seen in the zoos or when the Horvaths arrive with these birds. The last Raptorama I attended was at Jamaica Bay on October 17, 2021. I’ve added this page because Eurasian eagle owls and golden eagles are not seen in the wild around here, so I haven’t created pages for those birds. But I have seen bald eagles, merlins, American kestrels, barn owls, red-tailed hawks and other raptors and have created pages for those birds I have seen in the wild.
